A little bit LOUDER and a little bit WORSE!*

I know there are people who actually understand technology and computers and how to post things and make a website look cool or at least effortless but I am not one of those people.  My thought process pretty much works like this:

First I think: Hey, I got a book agent and that was awesome, and now I’m on submission, so I should probably start a blog.  You know, that’s what writers do.  They write.  On blogs.  In addition to their other writing, of course.  Surely I can do that.  Of course I can do it.  I can do it all!

Then: I google “blog” and Blogger pops up.

I think: Lookie there! So simple!  Love it!

So I: instantly sign up, choose some colors and fonts, make up a title (sort-of), write a post, slap it up on Facebook and Twitter and…

And then — a totally professional, awesome editor friend who is a bastion of sparkling wit and brilliant finesse and information galore, a friend who you can find here — that friend says to me… uh, WordPress is better.  Go there instead.  And you should buy a URL from Hostgator.  And set up hosting through them.  Don’t forget to register additional domains as necessary!

So then I: panic, search definition of “domain,” sign up for a service where a live (long-suffering) person will guide me through the whole process and…

Here I am.  Which is not where you (may have) originally come to read my words of scintillating wisdom,** so kindly remark my page.  I apologize for the inconvenience.

And hello.  It’s nice to meet you.

*   Extra credit if you know the song from whence this post’s title came.

** “Scintillating wisdom” to more often mean “random babblings about writing.”
