I know there are people who actually understand technology and computers and how to post things and make a website look cool or at least effortless but I am not one of those people. My thought process pretty much works like this:
First I think: Hey, I got a book agent and that was awesome, and now I’m on submission, so I should probably start a blog. You know, that’s what writers do. They write. On blogs. In addition to their other writing, of course. Surely I can do that. Of course I can do it. I can do it all!
Then: I google “blog” and Blogger pops up.
I think: Lookie there! So simple! Love it!
So I: instantly sign up, choose some colors and fonts, make up a title (sort-of), write a post, slap it up on Facebook and Twitter and…
And then — a totally professional, awesome editor friend who is a bastion of sparkling wit and brilliant finesse and information galore, a friend who you can find here — that friend says to me… uh, WordPress is better. Go there instead. And you should buy a URL from Hostgator. And set up hosting through them. Don’t forget to register additional domains as necessary!
So then I: panic, search definition of “domain,” sign up for a service where a live (long-suffering) person will guide me through the whole process and…
Here I am. Which is not where you (may have) originally come to read my words of scintillating wisdom,** so kindly remark my page. I apologize for the inconvenience.
